The journey of our brand began in 1972, when our founder arrived in Nairobi with nothing but vision, courage, and determination. With no capital, no connections, and no background in jewelry, he took a bold leap of faith — opening his first shop inside the Hilton Hotel, entirely on credit. What started as a small outlet offering wood carvings and semi-precious jewelry soon grew into one of Kenya’s pioneering names in fine gemstone jewelry.
Guided by integrity, craftsmanship, and service, he introduced gemstones like malachite, ruby, sapphire, and emerald to the Kenyan market, long before they became mainstream. Personally traveling to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taiwan, and later Jaipur, he sourced rare stones and global trends, bringing them to East Africa while also promoting local carvings and artistry. His philosophy was simple yet powerful: trust your instinct, work hard, and treat every customer with respect.
Over the years, the brand expanded into multiple outlets, including Arts 680 Ltd at the 680 Hotel and Intercontinental Nairobi, and Priti Jewellers at the Hilton Hotel. Each store set new standards of elegance and service, with renovations in the 1990s introducing international-quality jewelry to Kenya. In time, the Yaya Centre recognized this excellence and invited us to open our flagship branch, designed by an international architect and furnished to global standards.
Our founder’s resilience shaped the heart of the business — even after facing robberies or setbacks, he never closed shop, reopening every morning with renewed determination. Customers remember him not only for his jewelry but also for his warmth, humility, and hospitality — often welcoming guests like family.
Today, the legacy continues under Arts 680 Ltd, a name born from the iconic 680 Hotel, where it all began. Our mission remains the same: to uphold honesty, innovation, and world-class craftsmanship, bridging Africa with the world of fine jewelry and artistry.
“To carry forward a legacy built on integrity, innovation, and craftsmanship — offering exceptional gemstone jewelry and African artistry while honoring our founder’s values of trust, quality, and humility.”
